Introduction of Special Awards to recognise Inclusive Organisations in building a barrier-free workplace
To further mobilise the community to create more internship and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities, the Charter Scheme introduced the following Special Awards in 2016-17:
- Friendly Employment Award for Inclusive Organisation: To give due recognition to the Inclusive Organisations which employ persons with disabilities (PWDs), utilise the work ability of employees with disabilities effectively thereby unleashing their potential and facilitating their sustainable development, or encourage their business partners to employ PWDs.
- Outstanding Mentor Award for Inclusive Organisation: To give due recognition to the mentors of Inclusive Organisations who assist employees with disabilities in coping with difficulties at work and in integrating into the work team.
The Ceremony recognises the efforts and achievements of Inclusive Organisations in promoting the employment of persons with disabilities
The Award Presentation Ceremony of the 2016-17 Talent-Wise Employment Charter and Inclusive Organisations Recognition Scheme cum Experience Sharing Session (the Ceremony) was held on Monday, 13 March 2017 at the Conference Hall, Central Government Offices, Tamar. At the Ceremony, the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Stephen Sui, JP together with other officiating guests presented the certificate of recognition of the Friendly Employment Award for Inclusive Organisation and Outstanding Mentor Award for Inclusive Organisation to representatives of the 95 awardee organisations to give due recognition to organisations for their efforts in employing persons with disabilities or promoting their business partners to employ persons with disabilities and to pay tribute to outstanding mentors. Outstanding participating organisations and employees were also invited to share their experience in promoting the employment of persons with disabilities.
Representatives of Inclusive Organisations and guests of the Ceremony joined hands to promote the employment of persons with disabilities and create a barrier-free workplace for them.

Showcase the good practices of promoting employment of persons with disability at the experience sharing session
Representatives of outstanding Inclusive Organisations and employees with disabilities were invited to share their experience in facilitating the employment of persons with disabilities at the Ceremony. Video clips on real employment cases of the awardees were also broadcasted at the ceremony. Representatives of awardee organisations of the Friendly Employment Award for Inclusive Organisation shared with the audience how they adopt “employment based on their abilities” principle to enhance inclusive culture in the workplace, place the employees with disabilities in appropriate positions; as well as arrange professional instructors to provide continuous training to keep the employees abreast of the latest knowledge and technology in the industry and enable sustainable employment in the industry. Representatives of the awardee organisations of the Outstanding Mentor Award for Inclusive Organisation shared how they helped employees with disabilities in sustaining employment, such as introducing mentoring scheme to provide multi-facet support to the employees with disabilities, arrange mentors to serve as bridge between employees with disabilities and other workmates to foster inclusive workplace, provide training of job-related skills and emotional support for employees with disabilities, etc. Employers highly commended the responsible, conscientious, punctual and courteous work manner of their employees with disabilities. ongoing training of job-related skills for employees with disabilities; promoting the outstanding employees with disabilities as a mentor to assist other employees with disabilities in facing difficulties and challenges at workplace. With the sharing of the representatives of outstanding Inclusive Organisations and employees with disabilities, other Inclusive Organisations and employers were provided with more insights in facilitating and sustaining the employment of persons with disabilities at the Ceremony.
Representatives of three awardee organisations of the Friendly Employment Award for Inclusive Organisation, namely Dazzle Entertainment Co. Ltd, Hair Rejuvenation Co. Ltd. and The Hong Kong & China Gas Co Ltd., shared their experience on implementation of measures to enhance the employment opportunity of persons with disabilities.
Representatives of three awardee organisations of the Outstanding Mentor Award for Inclusive Organisation, namely SAHK B M Kotewall Memorial School, Caritas Computer Workshop and Maison Platinum Service Company Limited, shared their experience on assisting employees with disabilities in integrating into the work team.
